  1. As much as I hate to admit it, Zizek makes a lot of sense in the particular things he says — especially about the need for liberals to accept socialists as allies in the progressive struggle. Unfortunately, I think his conclusion about an impending apocalypse is wishful. I realize he says this because he’s trying to avoid advocating the affirmative use of violence on the part of revolutionaries, but my guess is that the worst features of capitalism will persist without a more aggressively proactive politics than the one he seems to be advocating.
